On March 22, 2022, CPI leaders gathered to commemorate Comrade C K Chandrappan. State Executive member and former minister Mullakkara Retnakaran, State Farming Corporation chairman Sivasankaran Nair, along with Shihab, Lali, Soman Pillai, Vijayamma, and Jagjeevan shared their experiences and learnings from their time with Comrade Chandrappan.
He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Thalasseri (1971-77), Kannur (77-80) and Thrishur (2004-09). He was also elected to the Assembly from Cherthala in 1991 defeating Vayalar Ravi.
He was adjudged as the best parliamentarian for his performance during 2004-09.
